6. Steve Stifler (American Pie)

Imagine if you woke up one day and found out that Steve Stifler was going to be your new best friend. Forever. I don't think I could handle a situation like that, 'less I got a lobotomy of some sort beforehand and stabbed pencils into my ears. In the
American Pie movies, Stifler is portrayed in a constantly shifting light: he's basically either "kind of an asshole" or "a huge asshole." The movies do give him a fair share of comeuppance, to be fair (he accidentally eats poop and sperm), but he mostly gets away with being an annoying, beer-obsessed, sex pest. Which is what he is.
The Spin-Off: "Steve" Do you notice how saying that title out loud implies a kind of indie movie sensibility? Great, because "Steve" is super serious and totally unlike any
American Pie movie you've ever seen. Set a few years after the last entry in the franchise,
American Reunion, this movie basically serves as a punishment vehicle for Stifler's character, shot in the style of a Jim Jarmusch movie. Having lived his entire life like a frat boy, the movie opens with Stifler getting into a horrific car accident whilst drunk and he wakes up without his memory. As he tries to reintegrate into the real world, he realises how much everybody hates him, though he can't remember doing any of the means things he's done 'cause of the memory loss thing. Viewing his past from a neutral, sobering perspective, he realises he must change his ways. It is shot in black and white, there's no soundtrack, and it runs at approximately 3 hours.
