8 Insanely Dangerous Film Shoots That Nearly Killed Their Stars

8. Dolph Lundgren Punches Sly Stallone To Hospital - Rocky IV

Sylvester Stallone is more than willing to push himself physically making a movie. His body is almost a living museum of injuries he€™s suffered during a shoot. Some of his notable onset mishaps include breaking several ribs shooting a stunt in First Blood, and breaking a finger trying to stop a goal by Pele in Escape To Victory. He€™s a man who likes to suffer for his art. During the filming of Rocky IV he wanted to add a sense of gritty realism to his showdown with Russian rival Ivan Drago, and he had the brilliant idea that the two should spar for real in some takes. This was brave on his part, as his co-star was the towering man mountain that is Dolph Lundgren. But he went ahead with the idea anyway and they boxed for real, and during a take Lundgren punched Stallone so hard in the breastbone that it caused his heart to swell. Soon Stallone had trouble breathing and his blood pressure went through the roof. He was later taken to hospital and ended up spending 8 days in intensive care. When he came back to finish the shoot, he understandably decided to fake the rest of it.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
