8 Major New Details Revealed About Star Wars: The Force Awakens
4. "The Knights Of Ren"
As it turns out, "Ren" isn't actually Kylo's last name. Just like "Darth" was a title for everyone from Maul to Sidious and Vader, so too is Ren. Now, you may recall rumours some time ago that Star Wars: The Force Awakens would further delve into the Inquisitors (one of whom can currently be seen in Star Wars Rebels), revealing their relationship with Dark Vader through flashbacks. Could they be the Knights of Ren? That's the group which gives Kylo his name according to Abrams, but the secretive filmmaker predictably wouldn't reveal any more than that. This new piece of information opens the door to a long list of questions, including not only who makes up this group of Knights, but also whether they're an offshoot of the Sith or something else entirely. All Abrams would say is that "He is not your prototypical mustache-twirling bad guy. He is a little bit more complex than that, and it was a great joy to work with Adam Driver on this role, because he threw himself into it in a deep and remarkable way." Driver was confirmed as Kylo some time ago, but EW failed to ask the director about those set photos which appeared to show both the Girls star and Gwendoline Christie in Rebel garb; could they have been trolling the paparazzi that day or were both characters good before turning to the Dark Side? As Ren isn't Kylo's real surname, there's every chance that he once had a name which would be instantly familiar to fans (something the magazine alludes to), and that of course means we might just know his parents. Perhaps it's his grandfather that Kylo idolises? For now, we're all going to have to just wait and see on that.
