One question that has been floated since the announcement of Palpatine’s return is if it undoes Anakin’s sacrifice at the end of Return of The Jedi. If Anakin is truly the Chosen One then why is it that his great accomplishment was only temporary?

In a world where Anakin never had sex with Padme and still fell to Palpatine’s influence it would never have been possible to redeem him. Moreover if he was clearly a lost cause, Palpatine may have just arranged for him to fall to Order 66 with all the rest of the Jedi.

But things worked out the way they did as part of the three generation long effort to balance the Force through the complete destruction of this iteration of the Sith. When the task is completed, the Skywalker family all become one with the Force from which they were born.
