8 Reasons 2016 Is The Best Time To Be A Movie Fan

5. There's A Ton Of Promise In Long-Awaited Sequels

I know that we got burned a little bit over the last couple of years with disappointing, long-awaited comedy sequels, but this should be a different breed. For starters, Ben Stiller generally doesn't wade back into the shallow end of the sequel pool unless he has an idea good enough to justify it. So while Anchorman 2 and Dumb & Dumber To may have left you a little raw, that shouldn't keep you away from the theaters when Zoolander 2 comes to town in February. Not only are the big four from the original back--Stiller, Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor, and Will Ferrell--but we're also assured that Billy Zane and Milla Jovovich will show up again, along with a whole host of other celebrities that are begging to be made fun of. But if silly, outrageous comedies aren't your thing, we're also getting a follow-up to Independence Day that's been 20 years in the making. And while much has been made of the fact that Independence Day: Resurgence will be without Will Smith, we should really be celebrating the triumphant return of Jeff Goldblum. C'mon, be honest, if you had to choose between only getting Smith or Goldblum...you know in your heart you'd choose the wiry weirdo.
