8 Reasons Why X-Men Origins: Wolverine Is Underrated

8. That Opening Montage

It's the scene most often talked about as one of the few saving graces of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and that's completely justified. As an action sequence it's just plain cool, considering we get to see Logan and Victor Creed fight their way through the American Civil War, World Wars I and II and eventually the Vietnam war. More than that, is the fantastic way in which it sets up the story; Logan and Creed stick together, and all they know what to do is fight. Logan grows more and more disillusioned with war, whereas Victor only grows more sadistic. It's a great visual way of explaining their bond, their lives and their differences as characters. Of course, the rest of the film slightly squanders the promise of those opening minutes, but I'd argue that the scenes between the two warring brothers are the real draw of the film, starting with this montage and continuing throughout.
