8 Scariest Creatures In Film

5. The Wheelers - Return To Oz

Return to Oz The Wheelers Return to Oz is The Wizard of Oz's darker little sister, riddled with scary images. Not five minutes into the film Dorothy is transported to a creepy asylum, before returning to Oz under cover of a violent storm, where we quickly discover that the Wicked Witch of the West was just the tip of the iceberg. The villain of the piece is the Nome King, a rock dwelling creature who has destroyed Oz and turned the Tin Man and Cowardly Lion to stone. He is assisted by Princess Mombi, who has decided to use her powers to enable her to have interchangeable heads. Even Dorothy's transportation, 'the Gump', which consists of two couches, palm leaves and the disembodied head of a moose-thing, is alarming. Worse than all of these though is The Wheelers. They are the main inhabitants of these new, battered Oz. They look human to an extent, but their arms and legs are the same length and instead of hands and feet, they have wheels. They chase Dorothy through the ruins, cackling insanely. They wear cortorted metal masks on the top of their heads with snake-like strands dangling like Medusa hairs, so that when they are bent forward there is absolutely nothing human about them. Stars of many nightmares, they may be essentially harmless €“ there isn't a lot of damage they can do with wheels €“ but that doesn't detract from their scariness.

I'll watch anything, so long as it has a juicy plot, a couple of twists and hopefully a few scares. My favourite films include The Fugitive, The Last Starfighter and The Secret In Their Eyes. Television wise, I'm a big fan of the Nordic Noir, Sherlock and Doctor Who. All the classics!
