Logan's Run is very definitely in contention for the 'longest gestating remake' award, with progress on a re-do of the 1976 film first coming to light all the way back in the early 2000s.

In the year 2000, director Skip Woods was brought in to helm the project, then in 2004, Bryan "X-Men" Singer was brought in as his replacement. Since then, the project has seen a rotating door of directors come and go, including Joseph Kosinski, Nicolas Winding Refn and Carl Erik Rinsch, none of whom made any significant progress.

However, just last year, the remake was reported to be back on track with a new writer - Colony's Ryan Condal - over at Warner Bros.

The original Logan's Run, based on the novel of the same name, depicts a future dystopia where those who have reached the age of 30 are killed off. Logan, a policeman, is forced to go on the run when he inches closer to that deadly age.

The Logan's Run remake has some incredible talent behind it, including producers Simon Kinberg and Greg Berlanti, and the concept is as unique and intriguing as they come, so hopefully the latest version of the script is good enough to take into production.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
