8 Signs We're Reaching Saturation Point With Superhero Movies

Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The Amazing Spider-Man 2. X Men: Days Of Future Past. Guardians Of The Galaxy. Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The Fantastic Four. Ant Man. Captain America 3. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. X Men: Age Of Apocalypse. The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The Wolverine 2. Oh and possibly Doctor Strange and Thor 3. That there is the line-up of super hero films we know so far from 2014 up to the end 2016. It's a great time to be a comic book fan, and see your favourite characters translated to the big screen, and the realisation of epic story lines or villains that you've loved for years. Hell, superheroes are even teaming up to fight even bigger foes. We can confidently say that the superhero genre is well and truly in its golden age. But is it all too much? In times gone by you might get a couple of superhero films released a year. Now we have superhero films being released on the same date, or within weeks of each other. Has everyone had a chance to watch the Captain America, Spider-Man and X Men sequels yet? The truth is as fun as superhero films are, as awesome as these heroes are on the big screen, we're in danger of achieving a glut on superhero films. Not to mention superheroes on our TV screens. Once upon a time there was Smallville. Now we have Arrow and Agents Of Shield. This time next year we'll have added Constatine, Agent Carter, Gotham and Flash to those two. If you love superheroes, you'll never be in short supply. But again we have to ask, how much is too much? In this article we look at this growing genre and ask if we are reaching saturation point with superhero movies. Here are eight reasons that suggest that might already be the case.
