8 Theories About Spider-Man's Role In Captain America: Civil War

4. He'll Have The Same Role From The Comics

There's a lot that the film is changing from the comics: Captain America (almost certainly) won't be assassinated (in fact, he probably won't even lose), there'll be no Robot Thor, and as mentioned the SRA has become the Sokovia Accords. What about Spider-Man's role, though? Secret identities aren't really a thing in the MCU, and he's not an established hero, so him unmasking and aligning with Tony Stark wouldn't have anywhere near the same impact it does in the comics, nor make as much sense. Still, there are ways it could mirror his arc. He might not necessarily reveal himself - or he might, to gasps of "oh my, this superhero not many people have heard of is a random 15-year-old kid!" - but he could still join Team Iron Man, before later switching alleigances and helping Captain America. It's expected that someone will change sides in the movie, and it could be Spider-Man.
