8 Transformers Characters Who Won't Be In Any Of The Movies

4. Ultra Magnus

The post-movie wave of toys didn't feature Megatron or Optimus Prime. Hasbro designed a new lead villain, Galvatron, a reincarnation of Megatron, as well as a new Autobot leader, Ultra Magnus. The difference between Prime and Magnus was the fact the latter's trailer actually transformed with the truck. The main problem with the toy was there were so many parts to fix him up into a robot that a lot of it got lost under the sofa. This wasn't the only problem, though. In the 1986 animated film, Ultra Magnus was introduced to us as a soldier, voiced by movie star Robert Stack. On Optimus's deathbed, Autobot leadership was passed on to Ultra Magnus, who managed to drop the Matrix (a crystal symbolising the Autobot leadership, like the Allspark in the modern films) but also lose it to Decepticons. D'oh! The writers also decided Hot Rod would be the main hero of the film and in turn became Rodimus Prime, who went from a customised muscle car to... a caravan. That's right: a caravan. Ultra Magnus: you had one job! Not only that, but a lot of Transformers fan sites have called Ultra Magnus the dullest Gen 1 character and sometimes the most annoying. I don't think Dreamworks want to take a risk in including such an unpopular character in the next film, which is supposed to be a semi-reboot of the franchise, much like the cartoon film was in 1986.
