8 Upcoming 2016 Movies Already Spoiled By Their Trailers
2. Spider-Man's Allegiance - Captain America: Civil War (Trailer 2)
This has all the makings of a dumb and uninteresting move on Marvel's part, but given that it was ultimately included in an attempt to sell Spider-Man to a wider audience in the wake of those recent failed blockbuster attempts, you can almost forgive the studio. While fans knew that Spider-Man was going to make an appearance in Captain America: Civil War, not everyone did, so while it was merely confirming a fact to the devout, it was new information to most. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKrVegVI0Us The unnecessary aspect concerning this reveal, however, stems from the exact way in which Spider-Man is introduced: stealing Captain America's shield at Iron Man's request. It's a great, badass moment, no question, but it's also one that spoils so much of the film at large because it essentially reveals that Spider-Man is going to be on Iron Man's team. Can you imagine how awesome it would've been had his allegiance not been included in a trailer, though? Wasn't there a more neutral shot that Marvel could have used instead? Or better yet, they could still have left Spider-Man out of the trailer entirely: Captain America 3 was probably going to make a billions dollars, regardless of whether Peter Parker appeared in any of the trailers. Did his long-awaited entry into the MCU need to occur in a mere trailer, of all places, and in such a spoilerific capacity?
