8 Upcoming Comic Book Movies You Should Be Concerned About
5. The Flash
The Flash, after Wonder Woman, is another big-scale display of Warner Bros' director problem. After initially courting Phil Lord and Chris Miller to direct, the studio settled on Seth Grahame-Smith to lead the charge, before parting ways with him to make way for Dope's Rick Famuyiwa.
So, all's looking rosy then, right? Wrong. Famuyiwa recently left the project, citing the dreaded 'creative differences' and leaving the Scarlet Speedster without a lead, driving force. As a result, the film is on hold as the studio scrambles to pull the pieces together and find a new director.
And that's worrying for a film that has already divided fans, with a good chunk of them refusing to accept a new actor in the role besides the TV Flash's Grant Gustin. The last thing the movie needs is behind-the-scenes drama! It's already fighting to win over the very people who Warner Bros hopes will pay to see it.
And the icing on this worrisome cake is the fact that the new director, whoever that may be, will inherit the work of the two that came before him. The Flash can't seem to find a voice, and if the people that are making the damn thing are struggling to nail it, it's hard to avoid being pessimistic about the outcome.
