8 Upcoming Movies No One Asked For (But Will Probably See)

5. Toy Story 4

Aquaman Jason Momoa
Disney/Pixar

This is a unique entry on this list, because the skepticism isn’t of its perceived quality. The first three Toy Story movies combine to create one of the best trilogies in cinematic history. Even with this, however, no one asked for a fourth entry.

With this franchise, we got something truly rare these days: Finality. A world was introduced, stories were told with heart and humor, and then ended on an emotionally satisfying note.

Even after such a worthy conclusion, we’re due for another Toy Story film in June of 2019. It’s hard to imagine the lives of toys would be anything but cyclical and it’s easy to think we will tread the same ground.

That said, this is a franchise that has produced some of the best animated films of the last 25 years and largely pioneered computer animation. The movie is being directed by Josh Cooley, a longtime Storyboard Artist and Writer for Pixar. Not to mention Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprising their iconic roles of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

The plot of the movie will detail the quest to reunite Woody with Bo Peep. The relationship between the two toys was relegated to the background in the first two films, with the third casually stating Bo was sold. This would be a necessary change in dynamic, with the first three films mostly focused on the dynamics between Woody and then-owner Andy.

We may not particular need another installment, but Toy Story 4 figures to be one of the most successful films of 2019. Let's just hope the effort lives up to the property.
