9 Actors Who Could Be The Breakout Stars Of 2016

4. Taron Egerton

See Him In: Kingsman: The Secret Service Look Out For Him In: Eddie the Eagle A rising British star, Taron Egerton, 26, has already helmed a sizeable blockbuster with 2014's Kingsman: The Secret Service, directed by Matthew Vaughn and co-starring Colin Firth. That film, fun but flawed, proved Egerton could have a widespread appeal, with the actor more than holding his own in amongst the action set-pieces and the major Hollywood stars (inc. Samuel L. Jackson). Egerton has a jack-the-lad, "cheeky-chappy" approach, and while that can often seem jarring in other performers, with him it seems genuine, and there's always a sense that an undercurrent of something deeper runs beneath. 2016 will see the actor stick to his smaller UK roots - something he too did this year when he starred in Krays twins biopic, Legend, which, other than the obvious dual Tom Hardy performance, he's the best thing about - the actor most notably set to feature as Eddie Edwards in Eddie the Eagle, a biopic about Britain's first Winter Olympics ski-jumper. Directed by actor-turned-director, Dexter Fletcher (whose Wild Bill is one of the best British films of the decade), the film will see Egerton take lead-billing proper, with a cast of famous, experienced vets (Hugh Jackman, Christopher Walken) behind him.
