7. Nine Men From Now

After the critical success of First Reformed, veteran director and writer Paul Schrader is all of a sudden hot again (not that his talent was ever up for debate) and now there's a pretty big question over what he's going to do next.

The answer came this week from Erick Weber, who spoke to him at the Critics Choice Awards and discovered that he intends to make a western called Nine Men From Now starring Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe.

Presumably, the film will owe something to Budd Boetticher's 1956 release Seven Men From Now starring Randolph Scott and Lee Marvin. There's little else to go on, other than the information that Schrader is looking for a studio and finance, but on the back of First Reformed, there's no way he won't get to make what he wants next.
