4. Prince Of War
Release: TBC
Based on a Vanity Fair article and the subject's own book, Prince Of War will tell the compelling story of Erik Prince, the former Navy SEAL who founded private military contractor Blackwater. It is set to be directed by Michaël R. Roskam and co-written by Stuart Beattie, who wrote Collateral and helped launch the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
It's also being produced by the team behing Clint Eastwood's The Mule and All The Money In The World and Prince Of War will take a similar approach, according to THR, offering and "unflinching look at the man who launched a special ops company that was awarded billions of dollars in government contracts and was involved in increasing the privatization of war while having his men in missions in locales ranging from Africa to Afghanistan."
Blackwater, of course, picked up a lot of attention when five of their workers killed 17 Iraqi civilians in 2007, with that event and the subsequent trial will form part of the plot. The producers are calling the film a “deep dive into the industry of modern warfare [which] reflects on the dark convergence of capitalism and patriotism.”
