9 Famous Comedians Who Were Brutally Unfunny In Movies
5. Bill Cosby
When Cosby was first trying to break his way into the movie biz, he decided to try his hand at "serious" acting alongside Robert Culp in the crime drama Hickey & Boggs, which makes Turner & Hooch look like Training Day by comparison. Luckily, he swiftly transitioned into comedic roles, managing to make a pair of genuinely funny films with Sydney Poitier in the 70s: Uptown Saturday Night and Let's Do It Again. And then he started The Cosby Show, which meant everything he did after that officially turned to gold because...THE COSBY SHOW. Only, when it came to motion pictures, Cosby had the exact opposite of a Midas Touch, and everything he got involved with had the humor sucked right out of it. He became a comedy vacuum. The worst offender, by far, is Leonard Part 6, which completely abandons The Cosby Show's smart brand of socially aware humor for dumb, cartoon humans with generally unpleasant demeanors. It's not warm and fuzzy, but it's certainly not sharp either. It's worse than bland, as his next attempt, Ghost Dad, would be. No, Leonard Part 6 seems to have a contempt for itself and its audience that practically dares anyone with half of a brain to laugh at its absurd, harshly slapped together gags.
