9 Filmmakers Who Apologised For Their Movies

7. Joel Schumacher - Batman And Robin

While Joel Schumacher might be reviled by fans for the one-two punch of Batman Forever and Batman And Robin, he€™s always been forthcoming about his mistakes. When someone yelled at him on the street for ruining Batman he yelled back €œI know!€ Schumacher€™s gaudy take on the saga introduced a whole load of neon, bat nipples and camp but very little in the way of entertainment value. Batman And Robin in particular is cited as the nadir of comic book movies, something that Schumacher has probably had to hear every day since it came out. While he doesn€™t out and out state the movie is terrible (people have to assume he knows that by now) he did offer a sincere apology for it in a documentary. "If there€™s anybody watching this that, let€™s say, loved Batman Forever and went into Batman And Robin with great anticipation, if I disappointed them in any way, then I really want to apologise because it wasn€™t my intention. My intention was just to entertain them." Now, if only he€™d apologise for Batman Forever as well...

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
