9 Horror Movies Everyone Remembers For One Scene

4. The Ring - TV Crawl

A remake of a Japanese movie based on a novel of the same name, it's fair to say that The Ring is a story that holds a universal appeal.

Following a journalist investigating a cursed videotape that kills its viewers seven days after they watched it, The Ring was one of the scariest horror movies of the '00s, seeing it force its way into the mainstream, and cementing a place in pop culture.

The movie is instantly recognisable for one image in particular: a TV showing a drowned and decomposed girl climbing out of a well, then making her slow way towards the screen before climbing straight out of it.

It was true meta-horror, and it sparked irrational fears that maybe Samara would climb out of viewers' screens at home, too.

A scare like that will stick with you for a long time, and it's an image that has long since become synonymous with The Ring, and even horror movies in general.
