9 Iconic Cult Film Distributors

2. Shameless Screen Entertainment

495 Formed in 2007, Shameless made an immediate impact on the DVD retail scene. Mainly dealing with Gialli (Italian sex and mystery thrillers), the DVDs have a distinctive yellow box (Giallo is Italian for yellow), Shameless has released and is releasing the creme de la creme of Gialli. Night Train Murders. Killer Nun. New York Ripper. Flavia the Heretic. Torso. These are just some of the outstanding films in Shameless' canon. But most pleasing of all, is the work and dedication that Shameless have put into bringing us lesser known Gialli, such as The Frightened Woman, Baba Yaga, The House with Laughing Windows, The Designated Victim and Footprints on the Moon. Finally, we get to see the full magnificence of the Giallo, courtesy of Shameless. What I like most about Shameless DVDs are the trailers in the forthcoming attractions part. Little snippets of sleaze building up to a grand crescendo! Shameless really take on board the needs and wants of their fans. They put great credence in satisfying them and therefore they have a wide audience for their films. Latest Shameless releases include Argento's neglected classic Four Flies on Grey Velvet, Cannibal Holocaust, Dellamorte Dellamore and House on the Edge of the Park. What more can I say? The titles speak for themselves.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
