3. Womb
Matt shares the screen with former
Bond girl Eva Green in this 2010 sci-fi drama (unfortunately, on this occasion there isn't a sonic screwdriver in sight!) which tells the tale of a desperate young woman who makes the controversial decision to bring her deceased lover back to life by giving birth to his clone. Seriously.
Womb, renamed
Clone for its UK release, has been described as "a deeply weird study of psychosexual obsession" by one far from impressed critic but it's worth sticking with it because there's some poignant underlying messages to be discussed and dissected along the way, including the often shrouded subjects of social discrimination, genetic cloning and, of course, pseudo-incest. Sounding like your cup of tea? Then you probably won't be disappointed. If you like films that question the dangerous advancements of modern science, this will definitely be right up your street. It's kind of like
Black Mirror before it was a thing and Matt, as always, is on tip top form throughout. One to make you think.
