2. Doctor Who
Well, this was obviously going to be included on the list, wasn't it?! Matt Smith became an honorary household name for his praised portrayal of the Eleventh Doctor in
Doctor Who which won him a string of prestigious award nominations including a nod for Best Actor at the 2011 TV BAFTAs. His four year tenure in the TARDIS was also responsible for catapulting this once quaint sci-fi series into its now familiar realms of international success and, by the time he handed over the reputable reigns to Peter Capaldi in 2013, the show was being enjoyed by a growing global audience of over 70 million viewers. Not too shabby for the man who was written off as being "too young" to play the role of TV's favourite Time Lord. Oh, and he single handedly made bow ties cool, so there's seemingly nothing
can't he can't do. Matt appeared in a grand total of 44 episodes as the Universe's most coveted defender and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a good time whichever one you watch. His kick ass monologue in
The Rings of Akhaten deserves a special mention for sheer awesomeness, as does his now iconic speech in
The Pandorica Opens. Coincidentally, the latter actually played a big part in securing Matt one of his biggest post-
Who roles to date...
