9 Most Brutal Acts Of Revenge In Star Wars

3. Darth Maul's Demise - The Phantom Menace

The Jedi can be quite the preachy lot at times, yet these peace-seeking sorts are not afraid of getting their hands dirty when the need arises.

One such example of this is the murder of Darth Maul during The Phantom Menace's final act. There, it's Ewan McGregor's young Obi-Wan Kenobi who slices Maul in two as he puts an end to the rampage of this Sith.

While there's an argument to be made that there was no other choice but to kill Darth Maul, there was a genuine anger in the face of Kenobi as he did so. That anger, of course, was due to Obi-Wan having just witnessed his master slain by this snarling figure.

For all the Episode I naysayers, even they can't argue how phenomenal a moment it is to see Kenobi as a focussed ball of rage, eagerly awaiting his opportunity to confront the cocksure, intimidating presence of Darth Maul. Taking down the horned Dathomirian may have been a necessity as McGregor's character found himself in a lightsaber-fuelled battle to the death, but there was almost certainly a semblance of revenge to offing Maul here.
