9 Movie Heroes Who Stupidly Turned Evil For The Sequel

3. Harry Osborn - Spider-Man 3

While Harry turning evil is a hardly a shocker, considering his character in the comic and his growing hatred of Spider-Man throughout the second movie, the dumb thing about it is how avoidable the movie makes it seem.

Harry becomes the new Green Goblin in the third movie, where he fights Spider-Man to avenge his father and is a big factor in breaking up Peter and Mary Jane, until his butler casually reveals to him Spider-Man had nothing to do with his father’s death. So the whole time Harry was pursing his destructive vendetta – and getting scarred in the process – all his butler had to do was say “Hey, you know you dad essentially killed himself, right?”

The story was a total mess anyway, with too many subplots and supporting characters, but Harry’s villainous turn could have been explored in a much more interesting way with a quick rewrite; and not have him turn good again just because he realises it was all a big misunderstanding.
