9 Positive Realisations From Re-Watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi

3. Phasma Was On Screen Longer Than You Thought

OK, it can't be denied that the promotion for The Last Jedi made it look like Captain Phasma was back with a vengeance. Dozens of interviewers asked Gwendoline Christie about her role and she explained how expanded her part was. The world was ready for the enigmatic supersoldier from Episode VII to explode across Episode XIII. It's true that she is indeed in the film for a very short time, and appears to die just minutes after her arrival a good hour into the run time.

However, while much of the internet would have you believe that Phasma was in this film for barely 90 seconds, it would seem that her screen time is more in the region of ten minutes - short, yes, but six or seven times more than is usually claimed. Again, the issue is the amount that is thrown at the audience in The Last Jedi. Additionally, Phasma makes a great entrance and you realise you've been waiting for her. She seems to be in a central role, and it seems to be unfolding successfully - when suddenly she's gone. Yes, her assumed death is sudden, but it's more that you want more than a case of her role being as small as many people claim.

And she's not just killed by being 'hit in the head' as so many have complained - that's an executioner's weapon to the face that finishes her off.
