9 Reasons Zoolander 2 Is A Disappointment (And 2 It's Not)

3. Don Atari May Be The Most Annoying Movie Character Ever

For all of the entertaining supporting roles the movie has, there's one that just doesn't work, like, at all. Kyle Mooney plays Don Atari, a pretentious hipster artist who Derek and Hansel come across in their travels, and his entire comic shtick is that he constantly sends mixed signals: he'll say that he hates something only to turn around and add that he also loves it. It's pretty low-hanging fruit as far as comedy goes, but more to the point Mooney's delivery is more irritating than funny, and after the fourth or fifth time he spouts verbal diarrhea, you'll be begging for him to get removed from the film by any means necessary. It's not so much Mooney's fault as it is the part being written as a dud, and likely by the time Ben Stiller realised it wasn't working (presuming he did), there wasn't a way to remove him from the film. Terrible.
