9 Sequels Trapped In Development Hell (That Will Never Happen)

6. Terminator Genisys 2

Anybody hoping for the further adventures of Jai Courtney’s super bland Kyle Reese and Emilia Clarke’s poorly acted Sarah Connor should brace themselves: it won’t happen. While it was a modest hit it attracted even worse reviews than Terminator: Salvation, with complaints focusing on the hopelessly convoluted plot, terrible acting and dull action.

Arnold was still great, but nobody wants to see where the story goes next. Genisys left a number of dangling threads, like the mystery of who sent the Terminator back to protect Sarah, or Skynet still being active in the final scene; but really, who cares?

Emilia Clarke has ruled herself out of returning, and while producers hoped the movie's performance in China would help boost numbers it still didn't meet expectations.

The bad word of mouth would only hurt a potential follow-up, and unless a sequel is ready to go in the next couple of years the rights will revert back to James Cameron. At this point, the series is better off self-terminating anyway.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
