9 Superheroes Who Have Been Played By Three Or More Actors (And Who Did It Best)

5. The Hulk

Played By: Mark Ruffalo, Edward Norton, Eric Bana, Bill Bixby (and Lou Ferrigno)

Marvel's most popular brilliant scientist/angry green giant was first brought to live-action in the late '70s television show The Incredible Hulk. The character of Bruce Banner was played by TV legend Bill Bixby and his alter ego the Hulk by bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno. Given the limitations of the time, this was a pretty smart decision, even if the show and the made-for-TV movies it spawned haven't exactly withstood the test of time.

Bruce Banner wouldn't make his big screen debut until 2003, when he was played by Eric Bana in Ang Lee's Hulk. Bana may be a rather talented performer, but even he couldn't save that dumpster fire of a superhero film.

Bruce would then make his MCU debut in The Incredible Hulk, which is easily one of the series' most underrated films. He was also played by Edward Norton, one of the series' most underrated leads. He was terrific in the role and, as great as Mark Ruffalo is, it's a bit of a shame that Norton didn't get to play the character again.

Speaking of Ruffalo, he took the reins as the MCU's Bruce Banner following Norton's firing, and has made great use of the opportunity ever since. He did a terrific job in The Avengers and Age of Ultron, then completely stole the show in Thor: Ragnarok, providing his best outing as the Hulk yet (and arguably the best overall.)

Who Did It Best: Had this list been written before Thor: Ragnarok's release, Norton probably would have taken this one. But after Ragnarok, it would be a crime not to give Mark Ruffalo the nod here.
