Given the immense popularity of this classic Marvel Comics character, the unique magical nature of his powers that will bring so much more to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the incredible array of actors who have been linked with potentially portraying him, Doctor Strange is halfway to becoming the face of this franchise before he has even hit the screen. Strange has been hotly anticipated to appear ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe's inception in 2008 - and after he was name-dropped in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, by Agent Jasper Sitwell, excitement about his arrival went up another notch. Everyone from Johnny Depp to Tom Hanks and from Patrick Dempsey to Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been linked to the role and, if Marvel get the casting right, he could actually even end up dwarfing the popularity of Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.
