9 Upcoming Movies That Are Unofficial Remakes
6. Stoned Alone = Home Alone
Last year it was revealed that Ryan Reynolds was preparing to produce and possibly star in Stoned Alone, an R-rated re-imagining/remake of the Macaulay Culkin-starring hit comedy Home Alone.
The premise, in case you hadn't figured it out yet, sees a young stoner missing his flight and deciding to make the best of it by smoking some weed.
At this point, thieves break into his home, prompting the man's drug-induced paranoia to take hold as he attempts to fend off the bandits.
Given that in title alone this film isn't making any effort at all to hide its influence, you can argue it's technically more of a parody than anything, but it appears to be replicating the core premise closely enough - without paying for the pleasure - to be a quasi-remake of sorts.
