At Time's fortress, we find that his minions, made of nuts and bolts, are called Seconds, and they can combine to become larger entities known as Minutes. These Minutes can also combine to become gigantic creatures called Hours, which bear more than a passing resemblance to Transformers.

This is one of those things that just feels cynically mandated by a studio executive. "Boy, those robot movies sure do make a ton of money. That'll bring in the misrepresented teenage boy market, right?"

It feels so wildly out of place in the Alice universe, and again is sure to just irritate those who are already troubled by the film, purists or not.
