Alita: 7 Reasons We Need A Sequel
1. Rosa Salazar's Performance Is Iconic
Far and away the best part about Alita: Battle Angel is Alita herself.
Though the character may have been crafted with some expert-level CGI work from Weta, Alita herself is brought to life by an absolutely stunning performance by Rosa Salazar. She imbues Alita with this earnestness and childlike wonder that becomes the beating heart of the entire film. Without Salazar in the role, Alita: Battle Angel could have (and almost certainly would have) very easily fallen apart.
Her performance is iconic and she deserves the chance to get to further develop the character of Alita. There are still plenty of adventures, trials, and tribulations for the character to endure and Salazar has more-than-earned the right to play these out.
Both Cameron and Rodriguez were both initially drawn to the property because of what a great character and inspiration they felt Alita could be. Now that they've got the most perfect live-action version of Alita imaginable, it would be a genuine shame if they didn't get the chance to keep telling her story.
