All 56 Walt Disney Animated Classics: Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Frozen (2013)

Frozen Anna

Ask a certain generation of Disney fan what the greatest flick released by the Mouse House is and you will almost inevitably hear Frozen in response. Such was the intense cultural impact of the film that such a reaction wouldn't even be wrong for that generation, and Disney themselves will probably rank it highly thanks to it hitting the important requirements of being both entertaining and lucrative beyond the limits of its run-time. In other words, it's a money spinner like no other.

Some will tell you that Frozen works because of its positive message for young girls, and the lack of a Prince Charming validation for Elsa, and it is indeed partly that, but it's more of a case of traditional metrics working in a perfect storm. The story is archetypal Disney (despite the lack of a real primary villain), the characters are empowered, naive and charming as they've always been and the animation and songs are irresistible.

Despite the money it's made, and the inevitable ongoing success of the franchise, it's not quite great enough to break the top 10.
