Alpha Flight: 10 Things You Need To Know About The MCU's Rumoured Super Team

When the Avengers were first brought onto the big screen, the team boasted some of the biggest names in Marvel comics history. Similarly, with the Fantastic Four and the X-Men's MCU debut on the horizon, the two teams are stacked with huge names and well known characters.

Alpha Flight however, is not. Though the team has had affiliations with both Captain Marvel and Wolverine in the past, outside of these characters there are absolutely no household names to boast. No recognisable characters like the Hulk, Professor X, or Mister Fantastic to draw in the mainstream audience.

Instead, Alpha Flight is made up of the lesser known heroes from north of the border, like Guardian, Sasquatch, Northstar, and Puck. Some of these names even comic book readers would struggle to recognise.

This however, does present Marvel Studios with a fantastic opportunity to build the team to be something special, similarly to how James Gunn approached Guardians of the Galaxy. Since these characters have no presence in the mainstream, they can be built from the ground up to be incredible characters, much like Peter Quill, Rocket, and Groot were, without the pressure of certain expectations from the masses. This could be a huge advantage in creating a new MCU super team that is as popular as the teams already established.
