The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 10 Things It Did Right

7. Hans Zimmer's Thematic Score

Hans Zimmer, probably the most famous film composer in the world right now (thanks to his scores for the likes of Inception and the Dark Knight movies), took over composing duties from James Horner for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and though it's certainly not his best or most memorable work ever, it's a far lot more fitting than the stuff James Horner did for the first chapter. Horner's compositions weren't exactly bad, but they were a little bland - especially when compared to the phenomenal work Danny Elfman did on the first two Sam Raimi flicks. Aside from being aggressive and appropriate to the feel of the movie in general, the best thing about Zimmer's score is that it finally gives us a new Spider-Man theme tune. Is it quite as memorable as Danny Elfman's theme? Perhaps not, but there's a good chance it'll grow more recognisable and potent as the series spins on. Zimmer also manages to enhance the emotional scenes beautifully. The score was produced by Pharrell Williams, and he also contributes to the soundtrack in a way that isn't just impressive, but innovative, too.
