Ant-Man Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To Know
6. Michael Peña Is The Best Part
Ant-Man hasn't done badly in terms of its cast. Paul Rudd as the eponymous hero is a good get (especially for the comedic bits), Michael Douglas brings a lot of credibility to the role of Hank Pym, Corey Stoll as the villain is an excellent choice after his parts in House Of Cards and The Bourne Legacy, and Bobby Cannavale's a rising star. Surprisingly, none of those are the main attraction (nor is Evangeline Lilly, finally making good on her early promise in Lost between this and as the only woman in The Hobbit films). As much as I love Paul Rudd, wrote Christina Radish of Collider after the preview screening, Michael Peña steals the show. In fact, the actor previously seen in acclaimed cop drama End Of Watch and 2014's war movie Fury has got the most consistent acclaim across the board for his turn as Scott Lang's prison buddy Luis. Ant-Man is fantastic fun with heart, wildly clever set-pieces, and a scene-stealing Michael Peña read another review. Too late to put him in Civil War?
