Aquaman: 10 Things Fans Demand Most
5. A Lighter Tone
Although amazing in their own right, it only makes sense that not every superhero movie is going to be like Deadpool or Guardians of the Galaxy. DC have suffered from being overly serious in their movies, sure, but then Batman saving the world with a dance off just wouldn’t feel right.
However, jokes and comedy are a cornerstone of most good film franchises. A movie doesn’t have to be a comedy to have jokes in it – in fact, you could argue they help make the serious moments all the more serious.
This is why Aquaman is a blessing to the DC Universe, because it does appear to be a funnier, more light-hearted movie than we’ve seen from the franchise prior. It’d be difficult to change the tone of already established heroes, but the little we have seen of Aquaman has had some genuinely funny moments, so the film may allow DC to make itself a little more light-hearted.
A DC film with more humour may take some getting used to – both for us fans and the writers – but it seems more than worth it in the end.
