Avengers 4: 11 Things That MUST Happen
3. The Classic Avengers Trade Their Lives For The New Avengers
Writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have enthusiastically told the press that the deaths at the end of Infinity War are "real", and while it's clearly in their vested interest to say that, one can certainly interpret it as meaning that they won't simply be reversed with a snappy time travel fix.
Rather, bringing the "dusted" Avengers back to life is going to require an enormous sacrifice, and accepting how all six of the original Avengers were spared from disintegration, it seems almost too perfect that they will lay down their lives to save their fallen comrades.
Quite how this will come about is anyone's guess - perhaps involving use of the Soul Stone? - but it would be an incredibly tidy way to give the original Avengers a poignant on-screen farewell while keeping the franchise vibrant with fresher, younger faces.
Sure, it'll be incredibly sad if this means Tony Stark and Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) never get that happy ending with kids, but if it's in the service of rescuing the world's new custodians, then it'll certainly be worth it. Get the tissues ready.
