Avengers Age Of Ultron: 10 Biggest Moments Of Foreshadowing

2. Hopelessly & Hilariously Outgunned (The Avengers)

"Last year, Earth had a visit from another planet that had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously outgunned." Those were the words of Nick Fury in the first Avengers movie and they represented a sure-fire sign that something needed to be done to protect the Earth from the increasing number of super-powered beings that were emerging in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the time, the Avengers were looking as though they would never work as a cohesive unit and the plan to weaponise the Tesseract was being aggressively opposed by the Avengers themselves, so his quote clearly indicated that something else needed to be done to come between the Earth and potential threats - cue the creation of an army of robotic policing drones. While not obvious at the time, the subsequent removal of the Tesseract from Earth and the going in separate ways of the Avengers at the end of the movie showed that something else - something more permanent - definitely needed to be put in place to be ready to fight for Earth at all times. And that's what will have made Tony Stark create the army of drones that will ultimately turn against him and the Earth itself.
