Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 11 Ways It Was Almost Completely Different
9. It Could Have Been 3.5 Hours Long
Prior to the film's European release, Joss Whedon admitted that his first cut was a monumental 3 and a half hours long, and that the cuts down to 142 minutes meant he was left "unhappy about not having [one or two things in] there, but they’re small.”
Would It Have Worked?
Well, despite being rip-roaringly entertaining, it's hard to avoid the fact that some elements of the storyline feel under-nourished and rushed.
Thor battling with his vision and discovering the Water of Sight; Erik Selvig's entire involvement, Cap's resolve that home was over for him, Tony Stark's decision to return as Iron Man... All are elements that were worthy of expansion that very tangibly felt like they'd been cut down for run-time.
But then, the day anyone accepts a film that long in theatres is a long way away from now. Perhaps some of it will be restored for the blu-ray release?
