Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 11 Ways It Was Almost Completely Different
3. Lindsay Lohan Was Almost Scarlet Witch
Before Whedon cast Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, there was a shortlist of actresses up for the role that included The Lovely Bones' Saoirse Ronan, Pretty Little Liars' Sasha Pieterse and Lindsay Lohan, of all people.
Ultimately, Olsen got the gig, using her experience with her older brother and twin sisters to influence her performance.
Would It Have Worked?
Elizabeth Olsen was great casting in the end: her odd chemistry with Taylor-Johnson (which was actively built on a suspicion of them being "too close") was engaging, and she definitely sold her emotional wounds well.
Lindsay Lohan meanwhile doesn't exactly shout acting prowess. Pieterse might have been a little too Disney (an ironic thing to say, obviously, given the studio). Of the three alternatives, Ronan would probably have been the best, given her more quirky aura, but it's questionable whether she would have done as well as Olsen.
