Avengers: Age Of Ultron Ending - What Happens And What Does It Mean?

5. Hawkeye Goes Home

What Happens: A mid-film twist revealed that Clint Barton actually has a wife (played by Linda Cardellini) and kids hidden out in the countryside, a big shock to all of the Avengers bar Black Widow. At the end of the film, instead of going to the New Avengers Facility, Hawkeye returns home, seemingly ready to live the family life with his new son. What Does It Mean: The whole Hawkeye: Family Man subplot goes a long way to giving the most under-utilised Avenger a character arc and bit of an emotional connection to the audience. In fact, it provides him with the most constant development out of the whole team. The reveal at first appears to be setting up his emotional death in the final battle, but the film subverts that nicely by allowing him something of a happy ending. Of course, it's not really an ending - he'll be back in action come Captain America: Civil War.
