The matter of legacy has long been a complex element in the comics. However, when done right, it can end up elevating a given mantle to newfound heights. One of those who's managed to benefit most from legacy - at least when it comes to Marvel - is Captain America himself, with several figures other than Steve Rogers having taken on the mantle in the past.

For the time being Rogers is back as Captain America in the comics. However, for the last ten years and even longer, two other figures have featured as Captain America than Steve - Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson. Endgame positioned Sam to wield the shield going forward, and that poses fascinating questions not only for Phase 4, but for the Falcon and Winter Soldier TV series on Disney+ too.

We've known for a while now that Bucky and Falcon would be suiting up together in one of several MCU-themed shows on the new platform, but now we know that one of them will be doing it as Captain America. Does that mean a rebrand? 'Captain America and Winter Soldier' doesn't quite roll off the tongue as well as 'Captain America and Falcon', but it works all the same.

But why stop there? There's no reason for Civil War to be the last Captain America film, and with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan already possessing great chemistry, one would hope the TV series is the springboard for something bigger on the silver screen.
