5. There's A Secret Second Villain

The Rumour

Toy leaks are one of the most consistent sources for movie plot leaks, and so fans raised their eyebrows when a piece of Endgame merch referred to the Avengers facing "an even greater threat."

And so, rumours began to swirl about Thanos, who wasn't featured much in the marketing, actually being dealt with fairly early in the movie, and a secret second antagonist emerging afterwards.

Names like Annihilus, Kang the Conqueror, Kronos and even Galactus were thrown around, with some believing that this villain would live to fight another day and in turn set up the next phase of the MCU.

The Truth

Thankfully, Thanos is Endgame's sole antagonist, because in addition to being plenty villain for this movie, the film is also much more concerned with its heroes for the most part.

While Infinity War was effectively Thanos' movie, Endgame keeps him off-screen for long stretches of time. And though his present self is killed in the opening 20 minutes of Endgame, 2014 Thanos takes up his mantle for the remainder.

There's not even a hint of another villain to follow him, and that's a damn good thing.
