Avengers Endgame: 15 Under-Appreciated Moments (That Deserve More Love)
11. Tony Stark's Iron Man 3 / Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Monologue
The ending speech in Endgame, delivered by Tony Stark as his final will and testament before his death, was reminiscent of his ending monologue in Iron Man 3 - which itself was reminiscent of the closing speech of RDJ's other film, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
It's an interesting addition. It wasn't unusual to hear it in Iron Man 3, since both it and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang were directed by Shane Black. It's sentimental, thoughtful, and poignant, almost like a holiday film, and it's the perfect way to conclude a movie that's almost entirely a love letter to fans. Delivered in RDJ's perfect, charming, easygoing, yet ultimately sincere tones, it's as much RDJ and Marvel's "thank you, goodbye" to fans as it is Tony Stark's to his friends and family.
It also plays over some heartwarming sequences, with the world recovering and the tone joyful and celebratory, almost like a holiday movie - except the holiday is the end of an era for the MCU. It pulls on all the sentimental heartstrings of fans, and nobody's complaining.
