21. Thanos' Energy Signature

When Tony and Nebula arrive back on Earth, an understandably grumpy Tony demands to know where Thanos is now and Captain America says they have no idea. It's then revealed that the Avengers have used every scrap of technology available to them to no avail. They've found no sign of him, which prompts Captain Marvel to suggest she's going to go and ask around to see if anyone knows where he is, basically.

At this point, Nebula pipes up to say she knows where he is: The Garden. And then suddenly Rocket reveals that actually they did pick up a massive energy signature the likes of which had only been seen once before (when Thanos snapped his fingers) on a mysterious planet. SO WHY THE HELL DID THEY IGNORE IT? Why, when they were looking for any signs of Thanos, did they ignore a massive energy signature that was exactly the same as Thanos'?

None of this needed Nebula saying it was the Garden, the signature ALONE should have led at least Captain Marvel going to see it.
