Avengers: Endgame - Every Oscar It Deserves To Win
1. Best Supporting Actor - Robert Downey Jr.
Nothing was more fitting than Tony Stark, the man with which the Avengers initiative and MCU en masse began, saving the universe from the Mad Titan Thanos in the climax of Avengers: Endgame.
All throughout the past 11 years of Marvel movies, Robert Downey Jr has delivered a masterful performance of the genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist turned superhero.
His last performance as Stark was the most powerful, moving, and memorable of them all, carrying the emotional weight of the 3 hour epic from his first moment on screen.
To top it off, he drove cinema-goers worldwide to tears with his dying breathes and bittersweet message from beyond the grave.
If any actor is getting nominated off the back of a comic book movie this year, it's Downey, and very deservedly so. Standing out among the calibre of characters and actors in this grand chapter is impressive and something only he could do.
Given that Downey has been chasing an Oscar since his 1993 Best Actor nomination for Chaplin, and that he was also nominated for his hilarious performance in Tropic Thunder, too, it isn't outside the realm of thinking that this nomination won't require an Infinity Stone to become reality.
