12. Why Does FRIDAY Disappear?

Obviously, having Tony Stark isolated with a small band of fellow heroes off-planet is a hugely useful thing for the story, so removing his access to FRIDAY and his link to Earth is important. Unfortunately, it also makes no sense. Why would Tony have a remote AI while also having the capabilities to go to space? Why would he weaken himself in any way? Especially when he literally used to have that capability.

In the first Avengers, JARVIS is able to communicate with Tony right at the limit of the atmosphere when his suit freezes and when he goes through the portal to save New York from the Nuke. At least for a while, he still has connection to his AI and that portal takes him lightyears away from Earth, not just outside the atmosphere.

And if he has no AI, how the hell does he get his suit to respond with transformations? On the way off planet, he has to ask FRIDAY to give him the power boost to chase the Black Order ship. But later the nano-tech is intuitive, so why have the AI requirement built in at all?
