Avengers: Infinity War - 7 Consequences On Earth Thanos Did Not Consider
4. Health
We live in frightening times. In a World with a changing climate, rapidly evolving artificial intelligence and nuclear weaponry, there's always a possible apocalypse dangling over our heads. In the MCU the risks are even greater with beings like Ego, Dormammu and Thanos in the cosmos.
Everything considered, however, the most likely destroyer of civilization is a familiar one: disease. Illness is nature's balancing act, with various epidemics causing untold misery for over a millennium. In a seven-year span in the mid 14th century, 60% of Europe died due to the Black Death. If those percentages were applied today, that would result in over 440 million victims.
Thanks to centuries-long dedication to medicine and treatment, humanity is combating disease now better than at any point in time. The bad news is Thanos killed half of all Doctors, Nurses, Researchers and First Responders that are largely the gatekeepers of widespread sickness. Losing Stephen Strange in pursuit of balance may not even be the most consequential in his profession.
Physical health would not be the only problem. The planet would experience a steep increase in mental anguish. Bereavement has been directly linked to psychological and psychiatric disorders such as depression, PTSD and anxiety. The entire population of the World is now either dead or dealing with the grief of losing family, friends and spouses.
